State Archaeology Budget approved Orchha works

Project Scope: The project, ‘State Archaeology Budget Approved Orchha Works’ has four components –North Façade of Jahangir and Sheesh Mahal, Himma Hamir ki Kothi, Barud Khana, Fortification Wall. The overall scope of work encompasses documentation of building and landscape, Identification of historical architectural layers, structural analysis and Condition assessment of buildings and landscape, detection of building components for restoration, rebuilding, adaptation, removal or refurbishment based on the documentation/layering, recognizing structural threats and formulation of corresponding preventive measure, prioritize repair and restoration, outline appropriate reuse and intervention, and satisfy statutory requirements.

Project Brief: Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (MPSTDC) has commissioned a project to conceptualize, design and supervise the conservation, illumination and facilitation works at the monuments inside the citadel complex including and the fortification wall remains in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh to DRONAH in July 2023.

The main objective is to restore and adapt buildings of heritage value under the protection of Department of Archaeology in order to bring them into the main fold of tourist movement and also to compliment the upgraded infrastructure in Orchha under the Tourism project.
